Disc Classes – In-Sync Dog Training

At In-Sync, we work towards teaching the dogs the skills required for an updog frisbee competition. This doesn’t mean you ever need to compete, but if you choose to, you will have the skills required.

In a “Updog” dog frisbee competition, participants showcase their skills in various frisbee throwing and catching maneuvers. Dogs and their handlers work together to perform impressive tricks and catches, demonstrating agility, speed, and coordination. The competition typically includes categories like distance, accuracy, freestyle routines, and some games even include agility equipment. Judges evaluate performances based on criteria such as difficulty, execution, and showmanship, making Updog competitions both thrilling and entertaining for participants and spectators alike.

Step 1: Learn how to throw

It is important that you learn now to throw properly and accurately. This will give your dog a better and safer opportunity to catch the disc.

Step 2: Teach your dog how to track the disc and catch.

Some dogs are naturals when it comes to catching a disc, others need to be taught. We can show you how to teach your dog how to track and catch a disc.

Step 3: Put your skills together

Combine both your throwing skills and your dogs catching skills to create a perfect game of Disc

Introduction to Disc Dog

This is a 5 week class that will run each week at the same time. This introductory disc class is designed to teach you about disc dog and learn about the disc games from the Updog organization (combines agility and disc in some of their games) We will be focusing on throwing techniques, game strategies, timing and disc placement as well as connecting with your dog on the field. No experience is necessary but your dog does need toy drive. Make sure to bring your dog’s favorite disc, otherwise one can be provided!

Disc Skills and Drills

If your dog loves disc and you want to learn how to take your disc skills to the next level, this is the class for you. In this class, you will be learning about some of the updog games as well as tweeting your throwing and working on your tricks for freestyle routines if that’s something you want to get into.
