North American Sport Dog Association is a scent based sport based on tasks for the average farm dog. It was founded in 2016 and has become popular for its welcoming of all different dogs and breeds.
There are 4 divisions in which our classes will cover in depth on how to find the different scents. We will also work on recall games to prepare for the dog for being on a long line.
Lost Item (LI) is the finding of personal items such as keys or wallets from the owner and strangers.
Shed Dog (SD) is finding deer antlers in an outdoor setting that have been shed in the late winter months from the animal. In higher levels a retrieve is added.
Urban Locate (UL) is finding a gerbil or rat in an urban setting from bathrooms and offices to parks.
Trail and Locate (TL) is tracking a trail to the gerbil or rat. In higher levels multiple trails are used with aged scents as distractions.
A long line 10ft – 20ft, harness, and item smelling of the handler are recommended for this class.
